One week in with the new cages and it appears parts of the WODS were desperately needed (as we heard so many concerns as to our ability/inability to perform them, or, parts of them). I like what our future holds!
Tony & I will be at a weekend long seminar of Oly lifting including class room & practical. We're really excited about having more tools to share with all of you.
I've noticed (as of late) that some people tend to miss class when certain exercises are prescribed. We call it "cherry picking", which basically means choosing to participate in only the workouts in which you'll feel that you can do well in and / or like the exercises. In some cultures they also refer to it as "being a punk-ass little b*tch...but I digress.
Have you found yourself "cherry picking" workouts lately? Looking at the website in the morning, before you make it to the gym... and upon seeing the workout, deciding NOT to show up because you don't feel like doing THAT workout today? However, it usually holds true for me, that the workouts I feel least like doing, are the ones that I stand to benefit the MOST from. So usually, when you feel most like not coming, see if you can overcome that urge and show up at the gym anyway.
Here's the deal: you're here for a reason; to improve, get healthier and become a better athlete, and that kind of growth won't occur if you aren't willing to confront your weaknesses and get flat-out freaking uncomfortable on a fairly regular basis. We all love it when stuff that we're good at comes up on the WOD, and conversely, we also all get that crazy, nervous feeling in the pit of our tummy when the stuff that we suck at comes up. So what? That's why you signed up for this craziness in the first place; to feel alive by facing down your fears, thus reminding yourself that life isn't a dress rehearsal...go big or go home. Don't cherry pick... just show up.
